WHO WE ARE

Hi - My name is Mark Griffith.

I started Kayak fishing here in the Florida panhandle in 2006 and love it... except for getting the yak between truck and shoreline.  Every year the chore got a little harder.  A manual cart with larger beach tires helped, but it was still the least pleasant part of my fishing day.

The Inspiration.

After 10 years, I began thinking about how to make life easier with the yak haul. I developed an initial proof of concept with a powered motor and some plastic toy wheels. It worked, but was not very reliable, and not real pretty (and that is being kind). After a year or so of tinkering with it and talking with many yak fishing friends, I decided it was something worth pursuing. We weren’t getting any younger and the loads weren’t getting any lighter!

Building Thang.

As Thang evolved, additional uses became apparent for something that would haul things back and forth to the beach, with a footprint that would allow it to be portable. Through a lot of trial and error, many learnings and iterations of prototypes, Thang received a patent on Christmas Eve 2019. Various prototypes have been in use for a couple of years now. I can say it’s made fishing trips more enjoyable… especially that trip back to the truck at the end of a long day on the water. With the recent addition of Tailgate Thang, concerts and sporting events, beach visits and yard work are enjoying the same benefits.
